襄阳新港公司由盐田港港航发展(湖北)有限公司与襄阳交通建设投资有限责任公司合资成立襄阳港是长江中游航运中心的重要组成部分，其中，小河港区、唐白河港区作为襄阳港核心港区，是未来服务襄阳市以及周边地区大宗货物运输和集装箱运输的重要物流集散中心

项目建成后，小河港区通过能力预计达到1510万吨，唐白河港区规划通过能力达到550万吨，其中最大集装箱通过能力将达到55万TEU仪式上，孙波、王阳红、郄英才先后致辞并表示，在省港航局大力支持下，襄阳市政府与盐田港集团将以建设汉江流域中心城市和全国综合交通枢纽为契机，发挥盐田港在品牌及资金、技术及资源、管理及运营等方面全产业链优势，共同将襄阳新港打造成为汉江最大的内河枢纽港
