施工方面，其开山边坡采用柔性爆破新工艺，通过单排微差起爆达到最佳爆破效果；炸礁采用水下钻孔爆破结合凿岩工艺，减少对周边水体的冲击以保护鱼类；码头软基处理采用了华南地区首次应用的分离式直连真空预压新工艺和高效节能真空泵组成的新型软土地基加固施工工艺；煤仓突破圆形煤仓的原有设计，建设2座国内水运行业规模最大的钢结构条形封闭煤仓，网架安装采取整体顶升、分条分块顶吊和高空散装工艺，全过程进行应力自动监测和网壳施工测量，确保施工安全
