长期以来，盐田港区陆域后方的通关问题一直是物流企业的痛点从2017年初开始，盐田港集团领导就专程带队前往海关总署，对盐田港区陆域后方的通关问题进行协调，其中就包括盐综保盐田片区南闸口试行24小时通关的内容，并积极向属地主管部门深圳海关和梅沙海关（原盐综保海关）递交实施盐田片区南闸口24小时通关的申请报告，均得到了各级海关的正面回应
深圳海关积极为企业排忧解难，在编制实施计划时综合考虑因开放闸口涉及到的人员编制和设施改造等问题，克服重重困难，最终顺利实施了24小时通关新举措新举措实施后，最受益的是生产和贸易型出口企业，仓租、压车压柜等成本得到一定程度降低

据不完全统计，盐田片区南闸口24小时通关功能实施后，在每天所延长的通关时间内至少有30条柜自动验放出闸这一举措不仅满足了华南地区经盐田港出口商品的疏港需求，减轻了盐田港区后方陆域货车拥堵压力；同时满足了部分香港门店配送业务的及时性，进一步缓解香港目前面临的物流仓库紧缺的现状；进而推动了深港两地跨境物流产业的联动发展，提升了盐田片区企业的综合竞争力，为盐田港区后方陆域物流产业的转型升级提供了更加便利的基础条件
